Desperate Housewives

"Umutsuz Ev Kadınları" (Hopeless Housewives), in which five women share the lead roles and the heroines represent each stage of womanhood, Songül Öden plays the dreamy and clumsy child woman "Yasemin", Bennu Yıldırımlar plays the perfect wife "Nermin", Evrim Solmaz plays the perpetual young girl "Zeliş" who thinks life consists of flirting and having fun, Ceyda Düvenci plays the lifelong mother "Elif" and Özge Özder plays the flirty and sassy looking "Emel".

The story begins one morning with the suicide of Handan, a housewife living on Gülçıkmazı Street. As her close friends try to unravel the mystery of this sudden death, their own lives become entangled. Nermin, a fastidious woman, is devastated by her husband's sudden request for divorce. Elif, struggling alone with her 4 children, looks for someone to help her but can't find anyone. Zeliş, the former beauty queen and new housewife, is confused by the interest of Levent, the young university student of the neighborhood. Yasemin, whose husband left her for a young girl, meets Sinan, who has just moved to the street. Seeing this, her ex-husband gets mad. Yasemin also has to fight with Emel, the neighborhood's merry widow, and is caught in the middle of a big disaster.
