Tardu Flordun
Tardu Flordun, born in 1972, is a theater and television actor. After the TV series Stranger in the House, Two Rooms, One Sinan, Love Game and The Uninvited My New Family, Flordun is now in front of the audience with the character of businessman Kerem İnceoğlu in the TV series Binbir Gece, which broke viewership records.
Tardu Flordun was born on May 25, 1972 in Ankara. Choosing performing arts like his father Macit Flordun, Flordun decided to study theater. Flordun, also known by his father's nickname "Pıtı" when he was a little boy, graduated from Hacettepe University's Department of Theater with a full score, after which he took part in various TV series and feature films in addition to theater. In an interview, he gave the following answer to a question about whether his father had any influence on him becoming an actor:
From a young age, I traveled with my father to almost every city in Turkey. During the Yeşilçam period, I used to go to their sets. I was definitely influenced by the smell of it, but my father never supported me. My father only told me at that time: "If you become an actor, you will be a special actor." I thought about what it means to be a special actor. There are very few actors who have created their own style. That's what my father wanted to tell me. I am not and never have been a very sociable person. I am assertive in my profession, I have a path I have drawn for myself and I go from there. I don't envy anyone in my profession, because I compete with myself. Since I am going my own way, I don't understand how someone else can get in my way and try to do me harm. I know the meaning behind it, but I still don't understand it. At this point, I get hurt.
Flordun, who was affiliated with Kocaeli City Theater, starred with Yetkin Dikinciler and Devrim Nas in the movie Leopard's Tail in 1998. In 2000, he started acting on television with the series The Stranger in the House, starring Berna Laçin (as Eren). In 2002, he appeared in the series Efsane (as Can), Bir Tatlı Huzur and İki Oda Bir Sinan (as Kerem). Flordun, who also played the character Kahraman in the series Camdan Pabuçlar, described an incident that happened to him because of his unusual name as follows:
They usually think I am Armenian. They ask if you are Armenian or Greek. I get this question a lot. Tardu, in old Turkish, means light coming from darkness. It's an old Turkish, original Turkish word. Flordun is the name of a town where my grandfather came from the Balkans. One day we were playing Hamlet in İzmit. The play is over, we're going to Istanbul, I'm waiting for the train... Someone is running after me, he's going to call me, I feel him, but he's not sure it's me. I turned to him and he said, 'I congratulate you, I don't know any foreigner who speaks such beautiful Turkish'. I explained that I was Turkish and this time he said, 'But isn't your name Tarder Flardet? They even thought I was a Romanian actor.
In 2005, Flordun broke her silence and appeared on the screen with the role of Tarcan, a famous and flirtatious pop star, in the series Davetsiz Misafir (Uninvited My New Family), starring Pınar Altuğ. Flordun, who also starred in the TV series Aşk Oyunu (Love Game), appeared in the movie Bir Varmış Bir Yokmuş with Nurseli İdiz, Ceyda Düvenc and Gülben Ergen in the same year.
Tardu Flordun spent 27 days in prison for injuring a woman with a pocket knife in 2006. Flordun made the following statement about this incident:
No one knows the reasons for this. Just because one unfortunate incident happened to me, it shouldn't affect my whole life. It's not like this has created a habit in me. It's a story whose details are unknown... There is an ethical situation. If a friend's girlfriend pushes you to be with her and your friend gets high and looks at you like a pear, you experience a rupture. It's a mistake I made. Yes, I did it, but I paid for it, that's all. I saw where the real sincerity is. Every Turkish male actor - God forbid, of course - should see that place even for 3-5 days. It is not possible to go there by saying "Hello, I am here, I am an actor, I am an actor". If you enter like that, it's dangerous.
In 2006, Flordun started acting in the TV series Binbirbir Gece (A Thousand and One Nights), which broke viewership records from the moment it started airing. Starring Bergüzar Korel, Halit Ergenç and Ceyda Düvenci, Flordun eagerly accepted the opportunity to portray a different character from the ones she had played in romantic-comedy series until then.
In an interview, Flordun evaluated the character Scheherazade's acceptance of the immoral offer as follows:
There are times in life when you are desperate. This woman needs 150,000 dollars. And her child's life is at stake. She has no time and nothing else to do... She is stuck. So, considering the situation and circumstances of a mother, it doesn't seem disgusting to me that she accepted this immoral offer. We question the woman before we even know her; this is wrong! As a society, we love to execute without judgment. Unfortunately, I have also experienced this in real life.
In 2006, Flordun played the role of 'Bastard Neco' in the movie Fog and Night, starring Uğur Polat and Selma Ergeç, and in 2007 he guest starred in the movie Sözün Bittiği Yer.
In 2011, he played the character of Red Kit in the movie "Behzat Ç..." directed by Serdar Akar, written by Emrah Serbes and starring Erdal Beşikçioğlu, Canan Ergüder, Cansu Dere: I Buried You in My Heart", directed by Serdar Akar, scripted by Emrah Serbes and starring Erdal Beşikçioğlu, Canan Ergüder and Cansu Dere.
Tardu Flordun was together with actress Canan Ergüder for 4 years since 2008. They broke up in June 2013.
