Levent Kırca
Levent Kırca is a Turkish comedian, theater and film actor. He was a writer for Aydınlık Newspaper and a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vatan Episodey. He has four children, two with his first wife and two with Oya Başar.
He made his debut at the Ankara State Theater in 1964. He worked at Ankara Birlik Theater and Halk Actors. He produced television series such as Nasreddin Hodja, Game Train, What Would You Do If You Were Me, How Should This Game Be Played, Sağlık Olsun!, Ne Olur Ne Olmaz? In 1978, he switched to cinema with the film Altınşehir. He acted in the films What Will Happen Now? and Mavi Muammer. He founded the theater group Hodri Meydan Community. Together with his ex-wife Oya Başar, he staged the plays "Beauty and the Beast" and "Les Miserables". He staged the plays Üç Baba Hasan and Kadıncıklar. He prepared the television program Olacak O Kadar, which started in 1988 and lasted for 22 years. He made his film directing debut with the movie Son. He then directed the movie Şeytan Bu Neresinde (Where is Satan in This?).
He is one of the rare Turkish artists with a statue in the Saint Petersburg Museum of Wax Sculptures. In 2011, he started a comedy series called Karımın Dediği Dedik (My Wife Says, We Said, She Played Double Bass), but the series lasted 4 episodes and ended due to lack of ratings.
Levent Kırca was a lecturer at Beykent University, Faculty of Fine Arts. In the March 2009 municipal elections, Levent Kırca was a candidate for Üsküdar Mayor from the Democratic Left Episodey; however, he did not win as he ranked 4th. Since 2011, he has been a columnist for Aydınlık newspaper, and in January 2013, he assumed the position of General Manager and then Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ulusal Kanal, and finally, in the Local Administrations Elections held on March 30, 2014, he announced his candidacy for the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality from the Workers' Episodey. He received 15,232 votes (0.2%) and ranked 8th.
In 2015, he was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for liver cancer and died at Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital at 02:40 on October 12, 2015. His body was buried in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery after the funeral prayer at Levent Mosque on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.
