Jeyan Mahfi Tözüm
Jeyan Mahfi Ayral (Tözüm) was born on August 6, 1931 in Istanbul, the daughter of cinema and theater artist Necdet Mahfî Ayral. Her interesting name "jeyan"; her father Mr. Necdet used Kamus-i Türki (Turkish dictionary) to find a name that no one else had. In Persian, it means the sound a lion makes when roaring. She graduated from Beyoğlu Girls High School.
In 1939, when she was 8 years old, she was first brought to the stage by Muhsin Ertuğrul in Henrik Ibsen's 'Peer Gynt', a world-class play. Her father took her by the hand both to the theater and to dubbing. At the age of 10, she started dubbing for a movie called "Happy Days".
He worked in nearly 100 theater plays. He starred in movies and TV series.
Most of the female voices in old Turkish movies are his. He dubbed many actresses including Türkan Şoray, Filiz Akın, Fatma Girik, Emel Sayın, Belgin Doruk, Gülşen Bubikoğlu and Ahu Tuğba in countless films.
The movie titled "Expected Song" was made in 1954 and starred Jeyan Mahfi, Zeki Müren, Cahide Sonku and Hadi Hün. This movie is also Zeki Müren's first appearance on the silver screen. It was also Jeyan Mahfi Ayral's last movie.
In 1958, she married Rauf Tözüm, a sound engineer who died in a traffic accident in 1978. She has a daughter named İris Tözüm and a granddaughter.
She married Rauf Tözüm in 1958 and with the decision they made together, she quit cinema and decided on theater acting. In 1964-65, she became the unforgettable actress in the play Çalıkuşu. In 1978, she also left the theater, but dubbing continued. In recent years, he started to act in TV series. He also worked as a commercial announcer on the radio for three years.
He retired from Istanbul Municipality City Theater.
