Gülsüm Kamu (Emine Gülsüm Kefeli) was born on August 13, 1944 in Sürmene, Trabzon. Named Gülsüm Kamu after her mother's uncle, the poet Kemalettin Kamu, she received her first training from Yıldız Kenter, who was her neighbor, and made her debut at the Ses Theater in 1964 in the leading role in the play "Nalınlar".
Until 1968, Kamu worked with Kenterler and then started working at Gülriz Sururi - Engin Cezzar theater and then at Ankara Meydan Stage. She started singing with the encouragement of Erdem Buri, the husband of Tülay German.
Gülsüm Kamu worked as a singer for 9 years. Apart from theater, she has also acted in movies and TV series. After her marriage to Iranian actor Cihangir Gaffari, Kamu separated from her husband and returned to Turkey, she founded the "Kamu Theater" under her own name. After her bankruptcy, she ran a boutique and worked as a tailor. After a while, he rejoined the Kent Actors troupe. She also had a short marriage with Müşfik Kenter. In 2005, Gülsüm Kamu started acting again with the series "Sensiz Olmuyor", and finally took part in the series Karadağlar and 72nd Ward in 2010.
